But what is the life? Is it the eldest son quitting school after the sudden death of his father? Is it two people, who used to know everything about each other, not even speaking anymore? Or is it the granddaughter, who worries her younger cousins won't remember their grandfather, as he is rushed to the hospital?
Life is short. That's the one thing we can all agree on.
Have you ever heard anyone say life is too long? No. Weeks like this are reminders.
(I know, my French is horrid. I need the practice. Correct if you feel necessary).

Avez-vous entendu quelqu'un dire que chaque vie est trop longue? Non. Semaines, comme ce sont des rappels.

ruh roh
No actually, Hope.
How cool.
Heh heh.
It is a bit shocking to realize how old we're all getting, well older. It will still be quite some time until we're actually "old" and some people stay young forever. When I was younger there were certain ages I looked forward to because I would be allowed to do more things then. My parents, like many of yours I presume, reserved certain privileges for when I accumulated a particular number of years on earth. I would wait for what felt like forever to turn 13, 14, 16, 18. Now what's left? 21? It just becomes numbers. But what is age really? The year you were born doesn't say anything about what kind of person you are, how much you've learned, what you've experienced. There are people at 15 more mature than people at 20. There are people at 20 who look younger than people at 15. And there are people even older who are more carefree than the other two. This inconsistency makes it more difficult to gauge what's appropriate. A mature person in one way may be completely lacking in another way. Is the point to pursue happiness or strive to become a better person? Why not both.
Happy very very early birthday to my dear friend Kathleen.

My TDAC101 professor told us that when he was in grad school his professor told them to write everything they what to accomplish in 5 years on a piece of paper and put it away. So my professor was thinking this is too crazy this will never happen. And he checked the list 5 years later, and he had accomplished everything on there. He said it's because writing it out helped him narrow down what it was he wanted and focus on what he needed to do to achieve it. Let's give it a shot!
